Description
Thallus
Foliose, very small (up to 3 cm), narrow lobes (up to 5 mm wide) tightly applied to the substrate and overlapping, often almost totally covered with soralia

Color
Upper side greenish-grey when dry, greenish when wet
Reproduction
Apothecia: very rare, maximum 1 mm in diameter, blackish-blue disc, well-developed margin
Soralia: numerous, greenish, covering almost the entire thallus in older individuals
Isidia: absence
Risk of confusion
Phaeophyscia orbicularis, very common, usually larger, less applied to the substrate and having well-developed rhizines overflowing from the lobe edges
