Crustose lichens with lirellae
(1) Crustose lichens with lirellae
Description
Several species of crustose lichens have very elongated apothecia, called lirellae. These are usually black in color and are more or less elongated and branched depending on the species. The determination of these lichens generally requires a meticulous examination of the lirellae (shape, size, ramifications), the use of chemical reagents, as well as microscopic observations.
Risk of confusion
Amandinea punctata / Lecidella elaeochroma, with round, dark-coloured apothecia.
